An Introduction To Puppetry Construction And Manipulation

With Peter Morton and Rebecca O’Brien from Knuckle and Joint Theatre Company

A workshop for anyone interested in learning more about puppetry or that is brand new to it!

In this workshop you will learn how to build your own simple table top puppet and discover the basic techniques to puppetry manipulation such as finding the weight, breath and focus of the puppet.

With these new skills participants will then explore all the different characters their puppet can convey and will work towards creating a short scene with their puppet to show at the end of the workshop. Participants will learn to tell stories with puppets and objects whilst working as an ensemble with other participants and will be equipped to use puppetry in their own projects. You will also be able to take your puppet home with you too!

All materials will be provided by Knuckle and Joint. Please wear clothes to move around in and comfortable shoes. There will be a max of 15 people in the workshop.

This workshop precedes the performance of Knuckle and Joints 'Black Hoods Cabaret' at 8:30 pm – a riotous evening of irreverent puppet fun!
