MLF and Poets and Players are delighted to present two of the UK’s finest contemporary poets.
Sean O’Brien’s writing combines passionate social commentaries rooted in the North East with wide, imaginative horizons and technical mastery. Powerful, resonant and thought-provoking, his poetry has received many major awards, including the TS Eliot, Forward and Roehampton Poetry prizes.
Deryn Rees-Jones brings her fierce poetic intelligence to bear on both intense personal emotion, and wider, highly-inventive explorations of What It’s Like to Be Alive – the title of her 2016 Selected Poems. Her new collection, Erato, is due from Seren in 2019.
Music will be played by the Basilisk Duo from the Royal Northern College of Music: Freya Chambers (bass clarinet and tenor saxophone), and Simeon Evans (baritone and bass saxophone).
