Haçienda Classical is curated by Graeme Park and Mike Pickering, the DJs who shaped the Haçienda sound.
Together with classical accompaniment from the Manchester Camerata and special guests, the seminal tracks that defined a generation at the original club are recreated and transformed into London’s biggest nightclub.
Soul II Soul have been producing memorable quality music since the late eighties. They've sold over 6.8 million albums in 35 territories across the globe and appeared on over 100 compilation albums. Their Club Classics Vol. 1 album was named one of the top 50 British Albums Ever by Q Magazine.
They began as a sound system in the early 80s, playing at various house blues parties, street parties and local youth clubs, adopting a unique style which became known as 'Funki Dred'. Soul II Soul signed to Virgin Records, and the rest is history. Tracks such as 'Keep On Movin' and 'Back To Life' have stood the test of time.
Reputed godfathers of Punk-Funk from Manchester, formed in 1978. They were one of the first acts to record for Tony Wilson's legendary Factory Records label. The band introduced the avant-garde elements of funk, jazz, electronics, tape loops and technology to the pop song, wrapping it in a post punk aesthetic. ACR have gone on to influence a generation of musicians, from Talking Heads to LCD Soundsystem.
Producer, remixer and DJ from New York. His work is largely inspired by the Chicago house movement and often features the vocal breaks, piano and string riffs that are synonymous with the Def Mix collective, to which be belongs. Awarded Remixer of the year at the 1998 Grammy Awards he has worked with acts as big as Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey and the Spice Girls.
A big fan of northern soul movement Mike played the saxophone and sang for mid-80s indie/dance forerunners Quando-Quango. As a resident at the Hacienda Mike provided the acid soundtrack to Graham's vocals with driving Friday's Nude night. Taking influences from his love of Northern Soul and Hip Hop his electronic sound track earned him the title from The Face magazine as 'England's most revered DJ'. In his role as Factory's A & R representative he also had the distinction of signing both James and the Happy Mondays revolutionising the UK music scene. He also provided Deconstruction with North: The Sound Of The Dance Underground, cited by many as the first UK house music compilation.
Graeme Park has been DJing for over 25 years. He was there before it all started, and hes still there, still rocking it, years later longer than some of the people on the dancefloor have been on the planet! Expect to hear the A to Z of dance music, with plenty of classics mixed with lots of current tunes!
Greg made his name at legendary clubs The Hacienda and Wigan Pier during the early 80's. Largely recognized as one of the first DJs to bring the electro-funk sound from New York to the British scene. "A genuine old skool innovator from back in the day' -Norman Jay MBE.
A legend of the music scene. Schooled on the Hacienda dancefloor, Justin is a man in demand, regularly found rocking dancefloors across the globe. Over the years, the former Lionrock mainman has remixed such luminaries as Manic Street Preachers, Bjork, New Order, Felix Da Housecat, The Stone Roses, Stereo MC's and Chemical Brothers. His 2001 Revtone album saw Justin throw another sound curveball, taking its cue from the disco-fied New York sound of late 70s Talking Heads, weaving in melodic techno influences to create an intriguing new sound. More recently he has enjoyed great success and a new generation of admirers with the moniker The Deadstock 33s. Everything he touches turns to gold.
