In times of conflict and great transition, poetry gives us a sacred space to reflect on what has occurred, and consider world affairs from a different angle.

For this year’s Royal Literary Fund co-commission, we welcome Malika Booker, much-loved poet, storyteller, theatre-maker and founder of the international writing development initiative Malika’s Poetry Kitchen.

Malika was the inaugural Poet-in-Residence at Royal Shakespeare Company and is currently the Douglas Caster Cultural Fellow at The University of Leeds. Her first poetry collection Pepper Seed was shortlisted for the Seamus Heaney Centre prize in 2014. Malika will present a vibrant and lyrical response to recent rhetoric around Brexit, immigration and the political posturing of party leaders. Presented in partnership with the Royal Literary Fund.
