On The Couch - Badges Chosen, Labels Given

In the first of our On The Couch discussions, Ngunan Adamu asks how much are we defined by our labels.

We all carry these labels of identity: Religion, ethnicity, nationality, gender, sexuality, disability. Some badges we choose: The bands we like, football teams we support, quite literally, the labels we wear? We struggle to define our place in the world, at times proudly claiming a particular identity, at other times distancing ourselves from an imposed label.
