Classical Dance Extravaganza

The Hallé, conducted by Stephen Bell, celebrates some of the most beautiful and best-loved ballet and dance music ever written. Highlights from Coppélia, Sleeping Beauty and Swan Lake all feature, along with Offenbach’s riotous Can-Can, Piazzolla’s toe-tapping tango Libertango, and Shostakovich’s infectious Tahiti Trot, better known as Tea for Two.

Other highlights include Dvorák’s Slavonic Dance, Copland’s Hoe Down from Rodeo, Richard Rodger’s Slaughter on 10th Avenue (from On Your Toes), Smetana’s Dance of the Comedians, Sibelius’s sad but beautiful Valse Triste, the famous Clog Dance from La Fille mal Gardée (usually danced in drag!), and Grieg’s catchy Norwegian Dance No.2.
