Manchester Mid-Day Concerts
Fiona is Principal Clarinet for the Manchester Camerata. The Schumann and the Debussy are two of the greatest pieces in the clarinet repertoire, atmospheric and very expressive, and a contrast to the more energetic and lively sonatinas by Martinu and Horovitz, whose tuneful piece Fiona has worked on with the composer.
The Gershwin preludes are best known in violin and in piano arrangements, but the clarinet gives them a particularly jazzy tinge. Nigel Clayton is an excellent and experienced chamber music player, and Fiona’s long-term playing partner, which promises some stunning ensemble playing!
Programme:
Schumann - Fantasiestucke Op 73 for clarinet and piano
Debussy - Rhapsodie
Martinu - Clarinet Sonatina
Gershwin - 3 preludes for clarinet and piano
Horovitz - Sonatina for clarinet and piano
