This event has been and gone.

Mad Cool Festival – now in its second year – is already one of the most essential rock and pop festivals that Europe has to offer. Set in the urban heart that is Madrid, it is an ideal festival for city-goers and rock fans alike.

Quickly building a name for itself as being able to secure major names such as Neil Young, The Who, The Prodigy, Die Antwoord, Biffy Clyro, Jane's Addiction, Editors, Bastille, Two Door Cinema Club and Vetusta Morla, this year looks set to host a plethora of international mega-stars.

With the main stages being large outdoor installations and a further 3 inside the Caja Mágica, the festival is preparing itself to follow up the success of its first edition by being even bigger this time around.

Green Day

Green Day appearing at this event

The Californian trio of Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool have been re-inventing punk since the late 80s. They shifted over 20 million copies of their breakthrough 1994 album 'Dookie', accompanied by the MTV heavy rotation of hit anthems like 'Basket Case' and 'Welcome To Paradise'. With 12 studio albums to their name, they've proved that punk is certainly not dead. Their career took an unexpected turn following 2004's concept album 'American Idiot' when it later spawned a stage musical, at first on Broadway then in the West End. Not even the legacy of the Sex Pistols managed to achieve a jukebox musical! The boys continue to release new albums and play worldwide tours, proving that they are certainly no American idiots.

Kings Of Leon

Kings Of Leon appearing at this event

Tennessean alt-rock group comprised of three brothers and a cousin. The Kings Of Leon take their titles very seriously, producing country-laden rock’n’roll with hints of blues and boogie-woogie. Brought up in the Deep South and having spent most of their childhood’s travelling, the Kings Of Leon (whose name comes from the brothers' father and grandfather) have a deep, drawling, rootsy sound and a suitable legacy to match.
