Furniture & Frames: Water Gilding

A three day practical workshop.

Celebrate the opening of the V&A’s Furniture gallery and enjoy an introduction to traditional water gilding techniques.

Using traditional materials and methods, you will be guided through all stages of preparation including the making and application of gesso, coloured bole and the laying, burnishing and tooling of loose leaf gold (and other precious metal) leaf.

You will use your new water gilding techniques to decorate a wooden frame to take home.
