A former member of the Cambridge Footlights, he first came to the Fringe with the 2001 Edinburgh show Far Too Happy, which also starred Mark Watson and was nominated for the Perrier award for best newcomer.
He also featured in Alex Horne's best-newcomer nominated Making Fish Laugh in 2003, and is part of the four-man sketch troupe Cowards. His solo Edinburgh debut came in 2004, with the tragic one-man comedy play Luke & Stella, which was made into a Radio 4 series called All Bar Luke.

'As daring and innovative as it is ridiculously funny... He's a genius, plain and simple' (Time Out).
Tim Key tour dates
UK-based Norwegian comedian 'with a more-than-agreeable line in weird observations' (Chortle).
Daniel is a Fosters Edinburgh Comedy Award Best Newcomer winner and star of Vic Reeves' and Bob Mortimer's House of Fools (BBC 2)
'Exquisitely crafted gags and out-and-out surrealism, at its best like a fusion of Emo Philips and Vic and Bob' (The Guardian)
'You knew he was funny before he even opened his mouth' (Scotsman)
'No doubt that Simonsen has proven himself a talent to keep an eye on' (Time Out)
'An outstanding comedian' (Fringe Guru).
Daniel Simonsen tour dates
Winning over critics and fans alike, James Acaster has earned himself a reputation as one of the most hotly tipped acts of 2012. Effortlessly confident, James's appreciation for the whimsy and detail of everyday life are a breath of fresh air. His laid back style, playful wit and appetite for the unconventional make for an evening of mirth and hilarity, and a night in his company is a treat to behold.
Since winning Laughing Boy New Act of the Year, James has gone from strength to strength appearing on Dave's One Night Stand, Russell Howard's Good News (BBC Three) and Show & Tell (E4) whilst also playing to over 100,000 people on tour with Milton Jones.
'Curious, original, immensely enjoyable stuff' (The Daily Telegraph)
'Deliciously daft and no slouch in the surprises department... One of comedy’s most original voices' (Evening Standard)
'Reminiscent of Stewart Lee or Richard Herring but suffused with enough of his
own personality to sound crisp and fresh' (The Independent)
'Stand-up of the highest most playful order' (The Guardian).
