Daylight Music is an-ages event. A lazy afternoon with music, tea and cake. Pay what you can.
In 1960 composer Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn decided to reinvent Tchaikovsky’s holiday ballet classic The Nutcracker as a jazzy, brassy “melting pot of musical styles past and present,” according to The New York Times. The Sugar Plum Fairy becomes the sultry Sugar Rum Cherry, while the Dance of the Reed Pipes becomes Toot Toot Tootie Toot. In a rare performance the blistering talent of Tomorrow’s Warriors Soon Come Big Band bring this vibrant suite to life on our stage.
Tomorrow’s Warriors mission is to inspire, foster and grow a vibrant community of artists, audiences and leaders who together will transform the lives of future generations by increasing opportunity, diversity and excellence in and through jazz. Gilles Peterson: “Can’t overstate the impact that Tomorrow’s Warriors has had on the current music scene in London.”
