Sounds XP All-Dayer : Viv Albertine (The Slits) + Thee MPVs + Mickey Gloss + Flowers + Big Wave + No Cars + Arthur Gunn + Simon Love + Vuvuvultures
The annual SoundsXP all day fun fest at the legendary Windmill.
9 bands, DJs and a free BBQ for all!
Main songwriter & guitarist of the Slits; Viv Albertine has persevered with her individual take on life & unusual guitar style. After a long break, Viv returned with a renewed passion and released her 1st E.P 'Flesh' on Thurston Moore's 'Ecstatic Peace' label. Then poured a collection of powerful, provocative & personal songs which became the new album: The Vermilion Border. She is back; telling it like it is through her songs, art & forthcoming book.
Viv has a fluid line-up & also plays solo.

'No cars' means 'farmers' in Japanese and No Cars are three Japananese teenage girls, and one guy, residing in London. They sing cute and quirky songs on oddball subjects. Their debut album 'Yoko Eats Whales' included songs about David Bowie, farms, octopus and sellotape! Possessing a quirky fun garage pop sound you'll probably hear in the next Tarantino movie, No Cars "play 1950s heartbreak classics with the odd screaming breakdown thrown in to keep the punks happy. No Cars are a bubblegum band, and the audience is chewing." -Artrocker magazine.

When Vuvuvultures first fly across your field of vision, you could be forgiven for thinking them a bit intense, perhaps even intimidating. There's the dark, some might say gothic imagery that peppers their visuals and videos: eyes in mouths, mouths for eyes, lips dribbling black blood. The backstory is uncompromisingly underground: self-promoted parties in abandoned buildings, rather than the regular new-band circuit. But then you actually hear those songs, and the word that springs to mind, more often than not, is 'pop'.
