Coriolanus
As a part of 'From The Thistle to The Rose' - A six week celebration of all the best in creative theatre from this years 70th Edinburgh Festival hosted by The Rose Playhouse, Bankside, London.
To The Elephant follow their resounding success of Troilus and Cressida at Edfringe 2016 and The Rose Playhouse, with Coriolanus, another rarely performed play by Shakespeare. Like Julius Caesar, his Coriolanus, plunges you into the heart of power in Ancient Rome. In the midst of prolonged sectarian warfare, Rome tears itself apart, unable to support the commander who wins victory after victory for the State.
Coriolanus contains themes of - Honour, Power, Democracy and Betrayal – it is a prime example that Shakespeare is ‘for all time’.
