NME Awards Shows 2013: FIDLAR + LOOM + Dinosaur Pile-Up
With their recent visit to these shores still fresh in the memory, FIDLAR announce their return on February following the release of their debut album 'FIDLAR' on 4th February.
The album, recorded and self-produced at the band's home studio with mixing duties handled by Rob Schanapf (Elliot Smith, Beck, Guided By Voices) is fourteen slices of insanely catchy and aptly titled punk rock tunes that look set to become favourites over the coming months.
The band's recent UK shows saw the quartet completely win over a burgeoning fanatical audience and will undoubtedly see similar scenes on their return early in 2013...
FIDLAR is an acronym for a profane phrase that underlines the attitude of the band. Formed a couple of years back, weened on a diet of house parties, skateboarding and generally enjoying life to the max, the band have come to the fore with their own take on their influences - surfier, faster, more fuzzed out and more personal than any of them. They perform full-scale drunken melodies on attaining their own debauched idea of the American Dream. Live shows have also included tracks by Creedence Clearwater Revival, Warren Zevon and Blink 182 amongst others and does further to enhance their reputation.

A four piece band from Leamington Spa.
If you thought Savages‘ Jehnny Beth had the iciest stare in new music, think again. LOOM‘s Tarik Badwan has the art of gloweringly eyeballing crowds perfected already, making the aforementioned first lady of noir-punk seem about as scary as your nan.
Debut single ‘Bleed On Me‘ encapsulates that brooding terror in its Misfits-by-Nirvana judders and yelps, a dark, sinister but exhilarating introduction to a very promising new band.
LOOM tour dates
Taking their name from a scene in the remake of 'King Kong' (the Peter Jackson film starring Jack Black), expect heavy riffs and yelps aplenty from this Leeds rock three-piece. Lead singer Matt claims of listening to the Foo Fighters' first two albums on a daily rotation and the influence of the grunge scene clearly falls heavily on their sound. Their epic monster noise certainly shows no signs of becoming extinct.
