Fosters Comedy Live: Alistair Barrie, Steve Williams, John Scott, Patrick Morris, Will Franken
Please note that the artists appearing may be subject to change.
Much in demand as an act, Alistair Barrie has forged a reputation for himself as one of the top comperes to emerge in recent years. His deceptively friendly and engaging stage presence masks a sharp, dry wit which can be turned to subjects as diverse as suicide bombers in the Middle East to the perils of flying EasyJet.
Despite a fondness for topical material, any performance is likely to be peppered with some inspired silliness and a little audience-related improvisation.
'Eloquent, slick and dynamic' (http://www.Chortle.co.uk)
'One of the circuit's classiest stand ups’ (London is Funny)
'Smart, slick and truly funny. Don't take my word for it, check him out yourself’ (Bruce Dessau, Beyond The Joke)
'Barrie has a casually sardonic sense of humour and is sharp as a guillotine blade. Woe betide the bloody fool who tries to heckle him' (Cape Town Argus).

More topical than Trevor MacDonald, Steve is one of the tallest guys on the circuit and certainly one of the most original. His Welsh genes allow him to have a totally different aspect on life although he hasn't lost any of the traditional Welsh values, including their fondness for sheep.
He has supported Lee Mack on tour, appeared on Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow and was nominated for a Chortle Award. Steve never fails to surprise and engage audiences with his hybrid of bizarre stories, larger than life physicality, spontaneous improvisation and skewed view of everyday life.
'Steve Williams has proven his lauders correct and come of age as one of Britain's best stand-up performers... effortless audience interaction, inventive and adaptable use of his material and some of the best natural improvisation you will see at the Fringe this year... an hour filled with a constant torrent of laughter' (Fest).

John started his comedy career in May 1999, and just two months later he was participating in his first fringe of the Edinburgh Festival in 'Stand up Scotland' - a showcase for the best new talent emerging on the Scottish circuit.
Since that time he has gone on to complete five runs in Edinburgh, won the 'Spike Milligan Award' for new talent 2003, and worked as a sketch performer on numerous BBC TV pilots.
'... cheeky, commanding and always oozing charm his hilarious tales of class-based woe never miss the mark and are delivered with killer punch lines...' (Funhouse Comedy).

Patrick Morris has established himself as one of the fastest rising young stars on the national circuit since starting out in comedy in 2011.
He has appeared regularly at top venues throughout the UK and has also made a number of TV and radio appearances.
'Delighted the audience with tales of his misadventures' (Broadway Baby)
'Inventive wit' (The Guardian)
'Almost lad-comedy in reverse... an enjoyable and relatable hour of
comedy' (The Skinny).

American Will Franken is a critically acclaimed satirist and high-speed, quick-change character comedian. Franken’s humour is rooted in the British sketch comedy tradition, notably Monty Python. Onstage, he portrays an eclectic mix of characters through a series of interconnected vignettes. His skits are often satirical, skewering a range of subcultures and political views, often absurdist.
'Strange, sometimes awkward, often funny and always interesting, Franken’s act is
like Marmite – ****ing awesome – and deserves an audience as big as his character roster' (Three Weeks)
'Amidst the anodyne wannabe TV comics who are 40% hair product, 40% ego and 20% talent there is still plenty of the real thing to be found, comedically. Will Franken... is absolutely brilliant. Iron satire in a velvet glove. Clever, creative comedy' (The Scotsman)
'The sharp-clawed satire on US culture and liberal piety, and the constant upending of what it is we think we're watching, make for a unique and compelling hour... You can't take your eyes off these inspired outpourings' (The Guardian)
'Will Franken is an astounding character comedian who makes almost everyone else in his field look like lazy chancers' (Chortle).
