Songs for bass from Restoration England, inspired by the voice of Revd John Gostling (1644-1733), described by Samuel Pepys as 'that stupendous bass', alongside works from the period for gamba and harpsichord.
Featuring music by Henry Purcell (1659-1695), George Jeffreys (c. 1610-1685), Matthew Locke (c. 1621-1677) and Christopher Simpson (c. 1602-1669).
