Barnes Music Festival - Come And Sing
Express your personal freedom by taking part in a one-day workshop for singers of all abilities with a well-known choral conductor (name to be confirmed). During the day, singers rehearse John Rutter’s Hymn to the Creator of Light, which is dedicated to the memory of Herbert Howells, resident of Barnes for many years, as well as other pieces.
For the evening concert, professional group il Suono perform a programme of music from 1215 to the present day with the title Freedom from Fear reflecting the Festival theme of Magna Carta, Music & Freedom. This includes John Joubert’s Four Stations on the Road to Freedom which has not before been performed in the 21st century. The newly-assembled choir then give their concert performance of the works rehearsed during the day.
For the workshop, the music will be available as a download from the Festival website. Tea, coffee and soft drinks will be provided but please bring your own lunch. Participants should wear all black for the evening performance.
Note: This event was originally advertised with John Rutter as the conductor. He is now not able to lead the day and the name of a new conductor will be announced as soon as possible.
Workshop 10:30 - 4:30pm. Performance 7:00 - 9:00pm
