Transformer
Lou Reed’s iconic album is brought to life in a full-on rock’n’roll gig underpinned with anecdotes of the 1970’s New York Underground where art, music, fashion and politics collided in a drugged fuelled frenzy. This is your ticket into the backroom of Max’s Kansas City, where rock stars and drag queens drink and get high.
London cabaret star Jonny Woo leads the band headed by Marc Hayward (guitar) and Gareth Tyler (drums) of The Dash. Fi McCluskey adds smokey rock vocals, Marion Androu brings the iconic bass lines and Miss Cairo as Candy Darling outrages in a performance, which at Max’s was then simply called Showtime. Expect appearances from Bowie, Warhol and Candy Darling, spot the nods to Bowie and The New York Dolls. But most of all expect to be on your feet dancing from the start and roaring for more come the end. Release your rock’n’roll animal.
