City Academy Studio Company

The Studio Company are proud to present their debut performance, the comedy musical 'Company', by Stephen Sondheim.

‘Company’ is one of legendary musical theatre composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim’s most popular shows. Written in 1970 it won 6 Tony awards and has been produced three times on Broadway and twice in the West End, including a production at London’s prestigious Donmar Theatre.

Sondheim wrote the music and lyrics and the excellent book is by George Furth; his script won a Drama Desk Award and a Tony. The script alone would make a fantastic show, which then coupled with one of Sondheim’s most accessible scores makes it a very special first project for The Studio Company.

Following the emotional journey of a single man Robert, living alone in New York, the shows introduces us to all his 'good and crazy people, my married friends' as well as his unique girlfriends; all of whom help him come to terms with his own loneliness and attitudes to emotional attachment, or the lack thereof.
