Feel the holiday spirit at the Wainwright family party, where Rufus and Martha pay tribute to their singer-songwriter mother Kate McGarrigle.
The siblings return to Royal Festival Hall after the first tribute show to McGarrigle was staged here on 12 June 2010, as part of Richard Thompson’s Meltdown festival. McGarrigle had performed her final concert a year before, in December 2009. More than 5,000 people attended that emotional family Christmas show at Royal Albert Hall.
In a celebration of family, love and music, Rufus, Martha and special guests bring their very own subversive twist of folk glamour to the holiday season.
The profit from this concert goes towards the Kate McGarrigle Fund, supporting sarcoma research, and a music therapy programme for cancer patients to be launched by Martha Wainwright in conjunction with Stand Up To Cancer Canada.
Dan Gillespie Sells, of The Feeling and creator of the West End hit Everybody's Talking About Jamie, is Music Director.
With wonderfully romantic lyrics and inspired orchestral flourishes, Montreal-born Rufus Wainwright is unique among the artists of his generation for his lush, theatrical pop sound. The son of folk luminaries Loudon Wainwright III and Kate McGarrigle, and brother of Martha Wainwright, Rufus has continued the family's music success story. His material spans baroque pop to opera, musicals and film soundtracks to Judy Garland covers. Sometimes performing solo with a piano, other times joined by guest musicians, Rufus is always a captivating live performer.

Daughter of musical legends Kate McGarrigle and Loudon Wainwright III, as well as the sister of Rufus Wainwright, Martha is now a highly regarded musician in her own right. This is due to the strength of her material, which is a fascinating mix of folk, rock, pop and more, all sung with her dramatic and extremely versatile voice.
