Faraday's Synaptic Gap, Opening Event
Join us at the opening event of Rick Myers’ exhibition, Faraday’s Synaptic Gap.
In 1832 the physicist Michael Faraday conducted an experiment using Waterloo Bridge. Using a wire that spanned the river, he tried to observe electricity generated by the river's motion through the Earth's magnetic field.
Faraday’s Synaptic Gap brings together the Poetry Library and the library at the Courtauld Institute of Art, on the north bank of the Thames. Rick Myers’ new exhibition reconsiders the neurological, material, and poetic aspects of Faraday's experiment.
The exhibition includes Myers’ previous work, as well as Sentences in a Synapse Field, a new video installation comprising a two-channel phonetic sound text. Come along to view the works, enjoy a glass of wine and find out more about Rick Myers' response to Faraday's experiment.
