What does the future hold for the next generation?

Israeli writer Etgar Keret’s off-beat humour and fantastical short stories are enjoyed the world over.

His new book of essays Seven Good Years is named after the time that elapsed between the birth of his son and the death of his father. Throughout these essays, Keret explores the challenges of becoming a father in an unstable world.

Moving seamlessly between the political and the personal, the comic and the tragic, Keret delves into the human tendency to find good – and create evil – wherever we look.

Whether ruminating on the military service in his three-year-old son’s future, or drawing out the influence of terrorism on Angry Birds, Keret asks funny and profound questions about what lies in store for those human beings who are coming into the world now.
