Doorways Project
Encounter homeless culture through the personal stories of society’s most unheard people.
Bekki Perriman has drawn on her own experiences of life on the streets to create this sound installation. It comprises a series of recorded monologues that you can find in locations scattered around Royal Festival Hall.
Each one invites visitors to pay attention to the intimate, sometimes humorous, often disturbing and mostly ignored experiences of homeless people.
Direct and unsentimental, the installation offers an invaluable opportunity to perceive a familiar environment from a different perspective.
The Doorways Project is supported by Unlimited, a programme that celebrates and facilitates the work of disabled artists. Unlimited uses public funding provided by the National Lottery via Arts Council England, Arts Council of Wales, Creative Scotland and Spirit of 2012.
