Experience David Lean's classic account of a muted affair accompanied by live music from the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

Celebrate Valentine's Day with this special screening of Brief Encounter, featuring a newly commissioned soundtrack performed by Southbank Centre's resident orchestra.

Lean's 1945 film traces the repressed infidelity of a married doctor and suburban housewife who meet on a train platform. It features Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No.2 at various points – indeed, the film was largely responsible for making this passionate work famous in the UK.

A complete performance of Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No.2 precedes the screening.
