The Works: Orchestra Of The Age Of Enlightenment, Elin Manahan Thomas
A performance of Pergolesi's Stabat Mater.
The Works is the OAE's unique series that gives audiences a guided tour of selected classical masterpieces.
This time the series turns its attention to Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, probably his best-known sacred work, which was later arranged by a number of other famous composers, including Johann Sebastian Bach.
Let director Steven Devine and a guest presenter guide you through the music movement by movement, with a complete performance following a Q&A with the artists.
There's music in the bar before the concert, together with a chance to meet musicians afterwards.
The OAE plays on period instruments aiming to recreate the sounds and styles of performance that would have been familiar to composers in their own time.
