Imagine Children’s Festival 2013: The Queen's Knickers

Southbank Centre and The Egg, Bath, have co-commissioned a stage adaptation of The Queen’s Knickers, inspired by the best-selling children’s book by Nicholas Allan. Adapted for the stage by Oliver Birch and John Biddle, this entertaining and inventively told show for children tells the story of what happens when her majesty’s undergarments go missing; and the state of national emergency that ensues.

Everyone can see the Queen's smart outfits but what does she wear 'u-n-d-e-r-n-e-a-t-h'?

Dilys, the Queen's maid, is the royal custodian of her Majesty's 'intimate apparel', otherwise known as the Queen's knickers. She guards HRH's smalls as if they were the crown jewels. If anyone were to get a sneaky peak of her majesty's undies the very fabric of society would collapse. But one day the knickers go missing, causing a national state of emergency and a diplomatic incident of catastrophic proportions.

A comedy for wise young children about hysterical adults, this children’s classic combines stand-up comedy, clowning, anarchic sketches and silly songs told by two elastic actors, Heather Saunders as Lucy and Kate Copeland as Dilys.
