Angela Grey is a Filipino-American jazz vocalist and singer-songwriter based in Paris, France. Originally from NYC, she first cut her teeth in New York City after stepping foot in the notorious Small’s Jazz Club at just 16 years old and has since moved to France, quickly becoming a regular on the Paris Jazz scene which include a regular slot at the infamous Duc Des Lombards. Raised from Manila to Manhattan, free-spirited and joyful, her soulful voice and warm timbre has been compared to the “Queen of the Blues”, Dinah Washington, as well as shades of Amy Winehouse. Her lyricism, influenced by The Beatles and their ability to translate universal human experiences into heart-felt songs, blends Jazz, Folk, and Soul. Her debut album, “Prisoner of Love,” released in April, features two originals and six reimagined jazz standards, recorded at Paris’s Zoot Studios with a quartet inspired by the Nat King Cole Trio; piano, guitar & double bass.
