Descendents
The Descendents are a punk-rock band from California who formed in 1977. Some of their members have also played in Black Flag and ALL. They became major players in the hardcore punk scene in L.A. and their influence has been huge for bands such as Blink 182, NOFX, Green Day and The Offspring, to name just a few. Their album artwork is distinctive for the caricature drawn of the band's singer Milo who has appeared on five of the band's seven albums. In 2002, the original four-piece lineup - Frank Navetta, Tony Lombardo, Bill Stevenson, and Milo Aukerman - got back into the studio to finally record their first-ever songs. The songs were written by the band from 1977 through 1980, before recording the Fat EP (1981) and the Milo Goes to College LP (1982).

Circle Jerks
Formed in 1979 by Black Flag vocalist Keith Morris and Redd Kross guitarist Greg Hetson, the Circle Jerks combined the rebelliousness of the Sex Pistols and Ramones with the aggressive athletic elements of the surfer/skateboarder crowd from Hermosa Beach. This coastal city just south of Los Angeles ignited the initial explosion of hardcore bands. Including bassist Roger Rogerson and drummer Lucky Lehrer, the band recorded their debut album, Group Sex, in 1980 on Frontier Records. Containing 14 tracks, the songs ranged in length from 1:35 to 27 seconds, taking the hyper blast of punk to the next extreme. With the release of the album, an appearance in the documentary film about L.A. punk The Decline of Western Civilization, and their incendiary live performances, the group's stature was assured in the budding hardcore community.

Negative Approach
Negative Approach is an American hardcore punk band, formed in Detroit, Michigan in 1981. Initially little known outside their hometown, they are now idolised on the Detroit rock and punk scene as an elite 'old school' band. They originally broke up in 1984, but reformed in 2006.
