Colour, Light, Texture: Portraits By Smith And Dobson
The painter Matthew Smith (1879-1959) and the sculptor Frank Dobson (1886-1963) were almost exact contemporaries. This display brings together portraits by these two leading artists and explores how both pioneered a modernist response to portraiture, in their respective media, through their shared concern with colour, light and texture. Held in Room 33.
