The UK’s first and only LGBTQIA+ strip night goes weekly.
As infamous queer club night Dollar Baby at Metropolis finally comes to an end, Harpies Strip Club takes its weekly Friday spot, launching on the 1st November from 10PM - 5AM, providing a regular space for queer and trans+ sex workers to make money. Harpies is a night dedicated to celebrating the diversity of all bodies and sexualities, through live nude shows and private dances that will have you drooling from the mouth. The night follows the model of a Miami strip club, in the sense that it is more of a high-energy party with international house, R’n’B, disco DJ’s and even Harpies own live rock band in the basement, Sex and the Left. Prices are £15.00 before 3AM and £20.00 after, this price includes 5 tipping dollars. The people behind the night are Jeanie Crystal, an artistic director with years of experience in the strip club industry and Lucia Blayke, the founder of London Trans+ Pride.

The night takes place at Metropolis which is a 6-story super club featuring a jacuzzi and a beach room, with real sand and a wind machine. Aswell as booty shaking and acrobatic pole tricks, you will see all mediums of performance at Harpies, from live classical opera, naked ballet, to a PVC nun doing some naughty things with communion bread, whilst satanic heavy metal blurs through the speakers, you really never know what to expect!

The fact that Harpies is going weekly is going to revolutionise the sex work industry and give marginalised people the power to take back control and end the exploitation of sex workers. Dancers are not charged a house fee and keep all of the profits that they earn. The night will provide a stable income for transgender people who are often living in poverty due to emplyoment often being impossible or incredibly hostile. A recent stonewall study shows that one in eight trans employees have been physically attacked by a colleague or customer in the last year and half of trans people (51 per cent) have hidden their identity at work for fear of discrimination. Harpies is already being asked to tour the UK and is making the stripping industry a more inclusive space, one sequin at a time.
