A Christmas Carol

Taken on a magical and transformational journey by the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future the cold-hearted miser, Scrooge becomes a changed man overnight.

A new staging with the orchestra and chorus of the English national Opera and the London Musical Theatre Orchestra brings this fabulous re-telling of Charles Dickens’ heart-warming tale of redemption and the true spirit of Christmas to the London Coliseum stage.

This production has an extraordinary Broadway team behind it. The music is by four-time Oscar winner Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Pocahontas), original choreography from five-time Tony Award-winner Susan Stroman (The Producers, Crazy For You), with lyrics by Lynn Ahrens (Ragtime, Seussical) and book by Mike Ockrent (Crazy For You, Me and My Girl).

English National Opera appearing at this event

Originally the Sadler's Wells Opera, formed at the turn of the century by Lilian Baylis, the company was renamed the English National Opera in 1974. The ENO was the first British opera company to tour the United States (1984) and the first major foreign opera company to tour the former Soviet Union (1990). In 1992, the company acquired the freehold to the London Coliseum, and after a four-year restoration programme moved into its new home in 2004.
