Beethoven: Umpteenth Violin Concerto
Please note: Info provided by the Event Organiser
Programme:
Beethoven - ‘Overture to Prometheus’ from The Creatures of Prometheus, Op. 43
Django Bates - Umpteenth Violin Concerto
Beethoven - Violin Concerto in D, Op. 61
In this night of two concertos from the Orchestra of the Swan, Thomas Gould is soloist in Beethoven’s Apollonian essay, and in a concerto by jazz composer Django Bates, to which Gould will bring his improvising credentials.
A founder member of Loose Tubes, Bates is internationally-acclaimed performer and composer with the ability to travel effortlessly between the jazz world and the classical. Gould will perform Bates’ own cadenzas for Beethoven’s concerto, linking the two works across time.
Prefaced by the volcanic Prometheus Overture, this promises to be very far from your umpteenth orchestral Beethoven concert.
