Set in 1966, ‘House of Shame’ is a black comedy about three friends and their captive. June, Mable and Kathleen kidnap a young pregnant woman from a home for lost mothers. They plan to convince the woman to give up her baby and let Mable adopt the child as she is unable to bear children herself. Although they have planned meticulously, their knowledge is derived largely from 60's spy novels and when a secret is revealed, the whole operation is thrown into disarray and their little world begins to implode.

‘House of Shame ’ is Slap and Tickle’s first play and is based on the story of Daisy’s grandmother who’s cousin was sent to a home for ‘lost’ mothers at the age of seventeen. She never returned and the family never spoke of what happened.
