William Shakespeare's Land of the Dead
William Shakespeare's Land of the Dead by John Heimbuch.
Southwark, 1599. At the opening night of Henry V, Shakespeare and The Chamberlain’s Men are visited by Sir Francis Bacon, who has an idea for a new play.
Meanwhile all across London plague is causing an uncontrollable blood lust in the populace. As the affliction spreads, Shakespeare is forced to fight for his life (and his art) when both his actors and his characters start to rise from the dead.
Joined by the Queen and her entourage, who are seeking refuge, the company barricade themselves inside the newly built playhouse and attempts to last out the night.
Can they survive? Is there a cure? Is artistic integrity ever worth dying for?
A true and accurate account of the 1599 zombie plague.
