Brexiteers The Musical

Last year’s sell-out Brexit the Musical returns to the Canal Café Theatre, renamed BREXITEERS THE MUSICAL, updated and expanded to include the latest excesses.

They’ve moved on from 'Brexit means Brexit' to the equally baffling 'Soft Brexit or hard Brexit?' Boris, Cameron, Farage, Theresa May and others strut their stuff on a crowded stage. Europeans Juncker, Tusk and Putin are joined by an ever-expanding cast of characters: Trump, Erdogan, Heseltine, Blair, assorted lords and judges and the Prince of Darkness himself. No-one is spared. Think Gilbert & Sullivan meets Brecht and Weill.

This is the fourth musical from the Shirreff/Sarre stable, following Broke Britannia! (London and Edinburgh Fringe 2010 – revived in 2015), EuroCrash! (London, Berlin and Frankfurt 2012/13) and Barack & the Beanstalk (Canal Café 2014) - which was meant to be the last until Brexit came along. Each musical has a common aim: to expose political/economic disaster to the glare of song and satire.

On 1st February Brexit the Musical was performed by special invitation in the Press Gallery of the Houses of Parliament. It had no measurable effect on the vote on Article 50 in the House of Commons held on that day.
