The Bad Baronet of Ruddigore is under a curse which forces him to commit an evil act each day or die horribly. Robin Oakapple, a blameless young famer, is in love with the beautiful Rose Maybud but is too shy to declare himself. However, he harbours a terrible secret... he is the rightful Baronet of Ruddigore, but having faked his own death to escape the curse has left his younger brother Despard to assume the title...
