4:48 Psychosis

Following their sell-out runs of Eavesdropping (July 2016) and More Eavesdropping (February 2017), Angel Theatre Company return to Barons Court Theatre with a production of 4:48 Psychosis by Sarah Kane.

This will play from Tuesday 4th – Saturday 8th July 2017 at 7.30pm, with a matinee on Saturday 8th at 2.30pm. It is a limited run of only 6 performances, so early booking is essential.

4:48 Psychosis explores the effects of clinical depression on the individual. It is a disorder from which Kane herself suffered. The play is an excruciating examination of the condition, perhaps giving the audience a unique insight into Kane’s personal struggles with the illness.

Discussion of suicide is a recurring theme as is the desires of the depressed mind, the effects and effectiveness of taking medication to treat depression, self-harm, isolation, dependency, relationships and love.

Only recently the Prime Minister, Teresa May, pledged to tackle the stigma surrounding mental health and 'transform attitudes'. In 2016 it was revealed that suicide, directly linked to mental health issues, is the biggest cause of death in men under the age of 45. Therefore, almost 20 years after the play was written, Angel Theatre Company present a thought provoking and timely revival – a re-examination of the struggles still facing many people in our society.

Suitable for ages 15 and over.
