German violinist Christian Tetzlaff, another perennially popular Barbican artist, tackles a concerto which stands at the head of the Romantic violin repertoire, and is one of his personal favourites. Beethoven’s perfect blend of virtuosity and lyricism precedes Brahms’s monumental German Requiem, based on a selection of texts from the Lutheran Bible offering comfort and consolation in times of sorrow. Daniel Harding directs the London Symphony Chorus and LSO.
