**606 Club Special**: Julie Dexter

Julie Dexter is an award-winning singer, songwriter and producer. UK-born but resident in the US since the late ‘90’s she lists an eclectic array of influences, including Nancy Wilson, Abbey Lincoln, Bob Marley and Sade. Her numerous recordings featuring her powerful yet refined vocals have been widely praised, with her hit single "Ketch A Vibe" featured in national radio ads for Democratic Presidential Candidate Senator Barack Obama (now, that’s some endorsement)! Highly respected in the USA in 2022 Julie was honoured by the US organisation “Black Women in Jazz & the Arts” with their ‘Afro-Caribbean Soul of Jazz Award’. This evening Julie will be performing a mix of her originals, Jazz standards and her own arrangements of some popular songs in what she describes as “a rollercoaster of Jazz, Soul, Straight-ahead Jazz and a little infusion of reggae as a homage to my Caribbean roots”.
