Tony Oladipo Allen is a Nigerian drummer, composer, and songwriter who currently lives and works in Paris.
Starting out in 1960 as a jazz drummer, influenced by Art Blakey and Max Roach, Nigerian drummer, composer and songwriter Tony Allen is now known alongside Fela Kuti as one of first founders of Afrobeat, and as one of Africa's finest kit drummers - "perhaps", as Brian Eno once mused, "the greatest drummer who has ever lived".

Dele Sosimi made his name as pianist with Fela Kuti, and his outfit specialises in a modern interpretation of Kuti's music. A fusion of African Yorubu Drummings and funk grooves.

Blak Twang, aka Tony Rotten, is one of the pioneers of UK hip-hop and a Mobo award winner. He is famed for his live performances all around the world and his ability, especially in his earlier recordings, to include various South London word usage and slang as well as locations without sounding too obvious, making him a firm favourite with English hip-hop fans as the original, “Hip-Hop Geezer”.

Afrikanboy tells his words of wisdom, tales of immigration difficulties and of what life is like in Britain for him. Whilst being on tour with M.I.A he has opened shows for artists such as Bjork and Prince.
Afrikanboy tour dates
Born in Nigeria but raised in London, Ty takes in a myriad of influences, as is evident on his recent collaboration with Femi Kuti's drummer, Tony Allen. A product of the North London spoken word/ poetry/hip-hop scene. After his 2001 debut 'Awkward' on the BigDada label Ty has busied himself touring and performing with like-minded artist Biznizz and recording his follow up. A rare and genuine talent. Check him!
