Ride

Ride appearing at this event

Oxford shoegaze legends Ride broke up in 1996, after a career that saw them release four critically acclaimed albums through Alan McGee's lauded Creation label. Their classic single, Vapour Trail, still regularly receives airplay on BBC 6Music and American campus radio, while Pitchfolk placed it in their Top 200 tracks of the 90s. Lead singer Mark Gardener pursued a solo career while guitarist Andy Bell went on to form Hurricane #1, played bass for Oasis and guitarist with Beady Eye. In 2014, Ride announced that they had reunited and booked a month-long world tour for the following year, including an appearance at the Primavera Sound Festival. The band also returned to the studio and Weather Diaries, their first album in 21 years, was released in 2017, and more live shows were booked in.

The Regrettes

The Regrettes appearing at this event

Perfectly imperfect - that’s one way to describe LA based punk act, The Regrettes. Writing songs that proudly bear a brazen and unabashed attitude in the vein of acts Courtney Barnett or Karen O - with a pop aesthetic reminiscent of 50s and 60s acts a la the Temptations or Buddy Holly - the LA based four piece create infectious, punk driven tracks. Lead by outspoken frontwoman, Lydia Night, and comprised of Genessa Gariano on guitar, Sage Nicole on bass and drummer Maxx Morando, the group have left the LA rock scene floored, managing to capture the hearts of jaded rock critics while opening for acts like Kate Nash, Jack Off Jill, Bleached, Pins, Deep Vally and more.

Gaffa Tape Sandy

Formed in 2015 by three friends with a desire to do something loud and exciting, Gaffa Tape Sandy’s popularity quickly escalated thanks to a series of incendiary live shows and a seemingly endless succession of instantly memorable garage-punk/rock tunes. The Brighton/Bury St Edmunds outfit’s brand of giddily frantic, high-octane hyper rock ‘n’ roll has already landed them support slots with acts including Idles, Peace, Art Brut, Weakened Friends, SuperGlu, Bloody Knees and a UK tour with Indoor Pets.

Newmoon

Newmoon appearing at this event

'Taking their name from an Elliot Smith album and based in Antwerp and Ghent, Newmoon formed in late 2013 and released their debut EP on Touché Amoré’s label Secret Voice / Deathwish Inc. The band members previously played in the much-loved hardcore punk band Midnight Souls, now widely recognised as one of the finest in the country. And though the two projects may superficially appear polar opposites, hardcore is nothing if not a genre built purely on dynamics, something this quintet have a masterful grasp of. Separating this band though will take some serious thought, as they come built with a strong DIY punk ethic and have been friends since their mid-teens. All band members have matching tattoos, cite the likes The Jesus & Mary Chain, Slowdive, The Ramones, Oasis and Sunn o))) as influences and to them, everything is new, and this is the start of it.'
