Liverpool Arabic Arts Festival - Funny Arabs : Maysoon Zayid, Alexei Sayle
Funny Arabs: a laugh about living in the West and being Arab at the same time. From marriage to politics, family to TV, food to romance and celebrity culture.
Maysoon Zayid is an actress and professional stand up comedian. She lives with Cerebral Palsy, drawing on her experience of disability and the trials of being a female American born to Palestinian parents for her comedy act. She has been quoted as saying “comedy is pain plus time. ”Maysoon has performed stand-up in top New York clubs, and has toured extensively in the USA as well as Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

Actor and scriptwriting for hit TV comedies such as 'The Comic Strip Presents' and
'Stuff'. He was a central part of the alternative comedy circuit in the early 1980s and the first ever MC at The Comedy Store.
Now a highly regarded and unique writer across a range of topics and styles from the comic to the disturbing. He was voted the 18th greatest stand-up comic on Channel 4's 100 Greatest Stand-ups in 2007.
