Madeline And Joe

Madeline and Joe want to have a baby.
But it’s not so easy.
Three months. Six months. Time moves on and no pregnancy.

So begins their long IVF journey.

Joe learns to bake gingerbread and goes organic: he doesn’t want Maddie ingesting toxins. Maddie makes new friends on online fertility blogs: Adam and Sue from Nottingham got pregnant on their fourth round of IVF. It just goes to show.

They’ve got some savings, and Maddie’s Mum is helping out; there couldn’t be a more important use for the money, could there?

But as each round fails, and Maddie just wants a kebab and a glass of wine, and Joe buries his fears in his work, as sex becomes procedure, they lose themselves and their relationship to IVF.

Madeline and Joe must decide if being a family means more than having children.
With a touching and astute original score, Madeline and Joe this provoking story touches upon an emotional and complex subject with subtle humour and great heart.
