The centrepiece of the Inside Out Festival, Shiv is a hilarious and heart-breaking new play by one of America’s major voices Aditi Brennan Kapil, double nominee for the prestigious 2014 James Tait Black Prize.

America, the present day. A young woman arrives at a lake searching for the truth about her father, a poet who left India many years ago. She owns only a mattress and a radio. She’s falling a little for the handsome Gerard, who lives in his old uncle’s house by the water. Oh, and she may also be an incarnation of the Hindu god Shiva.

This European premiere production explores the idea of family, growing up and what it means to be a little bit different. Directed by Curve Associate Director Suba Das, Shiv forms part of a celebration of the plays of Aditi Brennan Kapil in Spring 2015, with our friends at The Gate Theatre, London.
