Benjamin Zephaniah

Benjamin Zephaniah’s poetry is strongly influenced by the music and poetry of Jamaica and what he calls ‘street politics’. His mission has always been to take poetry everywhere, and as part of this mission he is one of the British Council’s most prolific ambassadors. He has injected new life into the British Poetry scene and is seen as a leading voice representing Black youths. Highly respected and regarded, Benjamin is ‘in conversation’ with Dr Jane Dowson (DMU).
