Houghton is a three day festival of art and music taking place on the stunning, Houghton estate in Norfolk on August 11-13 2017.
Curated by the illustrious Craig Richards and produced by the critically acclaimed Gottwood Festival team, Houghton is set to be the UK's only summer festival that fuses art, music and sculpture, whilst its licence uniquely allows musical programming of both sunset and sunrise.
The festival is centred around a beautiful lake, set amongst thick deciduous woodland and plays home to a number of unique venues including an abandoned warehouse, subterranean bowl and a world renowned art and sculpture park.
All artists have been personally invited by Craig to play, with an emphasis on the extra special. Spontaneous back-to-back sets will be encouraged. Longer DJ sets will be the norm. While bespoke world class sound systems will be paired to stages and artists under a licence that allows them to be run as designed. Craig has brought together a musical line-up to challenge, excite and inspire the festival in equal measure. This is a collection of some of the finest selectors to grace any festival in 2017.
Set within the grounds of Houghton Hall, in a never before used area of the estate, it's only a 90 minute train ride from central London. The site provides a naturally artistic setting with a range of venues, as well as the fore-mentioned art and sculpture park. A graduate of St Martins himself, Craig is looking forward to further curating an arts' program to accompany the estate's already impressive work from visionaries including James Turrell, Zhan Wang and Andrew Long.

Approaching his music with an artistic ear, Calibre is one of Belfast's most creative drum'n'bass DJs. His musical output is almost impossible to categorise and isn't done justice by the term drum'n'bass alone. Wide ranging in both his style and influences, he buzzes with a nervous energy that he releases on the decks and in the studio. One of the best in the business.

Howard Bernstein is a Scottish livewire; you can call him Howie B. Inspired by John Peel, engineered for Bjork, collaborated with avant-gardist Jon Hassell, DJed for U2, hung out with William Burroughs, produced guitar legend Ry Cooder, pals with the Doors' Ray Manzarek, recorded with Pulp. Oh, and released stuff on Mo Wax (and then started his own label for good measure). Frankly, it sounds like the work of ten men.

Coming into the mix under the encouragement and instruction of Dan Bell and Claude Young, Magda began DJing in 1996 working her way through the underground party circuit, via promoters, such as: Syst3m, and joining the all female DJ collective: Women on Wax, it was only a short while before she began appearing regularly at Detroit area events and clubs. 1999 saw Magda's initial forays into techno, electro and house evolve. Her DJ sets were becoming increasingly minimal and the records in her box reflected a love of weird, challenging music. Invited by Richie Hawtin to open for him at his millennium celebration: Epok, Magda was entering a new phase in her career. In the time since, Magda has expanded her work with Hawtin, becoming his sole choice to open many of his recent Detroit and international events, including: Jak DEMF weekend (2001), Control, Labor Day weekend (2001), as well as earning an envious position on the line up of 'From Our Minds To Yours' the Plus 8 ten year anniversary party.

Margaret Dygas is a Polish DJ known as Malgorzata Dygasiewicz to the folks back home. Her ear for eclectic compositions and ability to drop mesmerising, extended performances defies any traditional definition of a preferred style or genre. However a scintillating combination of classic house tracks twisted against deep/dub techno and driving minimal can be expected.
