Inverness Choral Society

The Petite Messe was written by Rossini in the twilight of his life, in 1863, many years after he had retired from composing operas.

Originally scored for twelve voices, two pianos and a harmonium, it was first performed in Paris in March 1864, but the first public performance was not given until February 1869, also in Paris, shortly after the composer’s death.

The concert will also include popular opera choruses, and favourite opera solos from the soloists, so, if you like Italian music, be sure to come along to hear the society!
