Soteria Brighton - From Peer Supported Open Dialogue

Val is a family therapist and first heard about Open Dialogue in 2001.
It just made sense to her and so she has campaigned widely for its introduction in the UK ever since. She undertook an Open Dialogue trial in the Early Intervention in Psychosis service in Leeds in 2014.

Currently she is a coordinator and tutor on the Foundation course in Peer-supported Open Dialogue, Social Network and Relationship skills course, which has led to the first ever randomised controlled research trial in Open Dialogue.

Her talk will describe the basics of Open Dialogue, it’s origins and values. She will also discuss what’s happening in the UK and hopefully there will be an opportunity to have a go!

She is a firm believer of the Ubuntu saying “ I am who I am because of who we all are"
