Johnny Cash Revisited
Johnny Cash Revisited is a two-hour, live concert performance set between 1969 and 1971 and based on the hugely popular “Johnny Cash Show” Television series. During this period, Cash was at the height of his career in the USA and around the world, following the success of his legendary, At Folsom Prison and San Quentin albums. The show features flashbacks to the very beginning of Cash’s career at Sun Records in Memphis and includes his greatest hits from the 1950’s on through the decades with hits such as, Folsom Prison Blues, I Walk The Line, Big River, Ring of Fire, A Boy Named Sue, One Piece At A Time, Daddy Sang Bass, A Thing Called Love, Ghost Riders In The Sky, Without Love, and award-winning duets, Jackson and It Ain’t Me Babe, with June Carter, a legend in her own right and member of the pioneering “Carter Family”. Johnny Cash Revisited also boasts a fabulous live band called Starkville who could entertain you for the entire two hours. They perform popular songs by artists to whom Cash himself gave a prime-time TV spot, and in some cases their biggest break, as guests on his TV show. Hit songs by Derek and The Dominoes, and Credence Clearwater Revival, feature alongside Johnny’s long-time friends and Sun Records label mates, Roy Orbison and Carl Perkins. Our show also provides a look at the resurgence of Johnny Cash’s career in the 1990’s featuring his Grammy award winning series of six American Recordings albums, including 2003’s incredibly powerful, Hurt.…

Jodie McKay
Jodie was born in to a very musical environment so it was no surprise that she showed her musical talents from a very early age, her first stage appearance being at the tender age of 5. By this time she was already able to play piano, and the recorder. At the age of 9 Jodie attended music school where she studied the violin and guitar. She then went on to play both instruments in her school orchestra. Steve Mitchell, Jodie's father, hosted a weekly country music show on Essex radio. A radio listener's concert in Buxton became Jodie's first ever performance on the British country music scene. She sang “Cryin' Time”, and says she cried all the way through it. Her interest in country music lyrics also led to her writing her first song when she was 10. Jodie has written many wonderful songs since then. At 16 she joined her father on the road in his band Shiloh, playing acoustic guitar and singing harmonies. In 1994 Jodie spent some time in Philadelphia at Camp America where she worked as a music teacher for the mentally disabled. She helped put together weekly shows for them, and performed in them herself. On her return to England Jodie co-formed The Mitchells, a duo with her brother. The pair toured the scene for two years before adding two other musicians to form The Glen Mitchell Band. Jodie switched instruments and learned to play bass guitar when the bass player left the band. Over a 6 year period with the band Jodie played bass guitar, acoustic guitar, sang harmonies, and also began singing a few lead vocals, which always drew a great reaction from the audience. 1997 saw the Glen Mitchell band playing support to Billie Jo Spears at Longleat. Rick McKay was at the show because he and his band were backing Billie Jo. He watched the first half of the show and was blown away by Jodie's performance of “Mama He's Crazy” by the Judds. The two met again a few weeks later when Rick was organizing the late night jam sessions at Pontins in Hemsby. Over the next couple of years the two remained friends and even worked together on occasion as a duo. In time their relationship blossomed and Jodie joined the Rick McKay band in 2000, when her brother Glen followed his fortunes to Nashville. Jodie went on to play bass guitar in Rick's Garth Brooks tribute show, The Thunder Rolls, until she and Rick eventually co-formed the duo Pure Country, now known simply as Jodie & Rick McKay. In 2012 Rick began working on his new theatre production, Johnny Cash Revisited, with himself in the title role and Jodie playing June Carter. Their extremely close husband and wife partnership mirrors that of Johnny and June and spills over into their on stage performance, making the whole experience much more authentic to the show's audiences.
