Smetana - The Bartered Bride Overture
Dvorak - Cello Concerto
Rimsky-Korsarkov - Scheherazade
A display of quintessentially Czech music from two Bohemian legends, with Smetana's exhilarating Overture to his first and most enduring comic opera The Bartered Bride and Dvo?ák's magnificent Cello Concerto, performed by world-class cellis Natalie Clein. Young Spanish maestro Eduardo Portal leads the Orchestra in the tale of 'One Thousand and One Nights' in Rinsky-Korsakov's colourful epic, Scheherazade. A haunting solo violin (Scheherazade), menacing brass fanfares (the Sultan) and the strumming of a harp present a mystical far-away land.
Join the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra on a journey to the mysterious East, where wonders have to be heard to be believed.
